ejemplo Notas 1ª lección

Basic Language: Colors

Colors as Adjectives

There are two categories when using colors as adjectives:

Category One

The first category consists of seven colors (please see the list below) that are formed as adjectives according to the gender of the noun they modify, by adding يّ or يّة to the color name.

1. Masculine Form

In the case of a masculine noun, a يّ is added to the name of the color. For example, كتاب برتقاليّ, meaning 'orange book'. كتاب is masculine, so the adjective برتقاليّ 'orange' is in the masculine form.

2. Feminine Form

For a feminine noun, a يّة is added to the name of the color. As an example, زهرة برتقاليّة, meaning 'orange flower'.

Examples:

Masculine/feminine مذكَّر / مؤنَّث
Purple or violet بنفسجيّ / بنفسجيّة
Orange برتقاليّ / برتقاليّة
Gray رماديّ / رماديّة
Gold ذهبيّ / ذهبيّة
Silver /فضّيّ فضّيّة
Navy blue كحليّ / كحليّة
Pink ورديّ / ورديّة

Category Two

1. Masculine Form

The second category is formed by keeping the color name as is when in the masculine form. For example, حائط أخضر, meaning 'green wall'. No changes have been made to the original color name أخضر.

2. Feminine Form

In the case of female nouns and adjectives, such as وردة صفراء, meaning 'yellow flower', the أ at the beginning of the word has been omitted, and اء is added at the end of the word.

Examples:

Masculine/feminine ذكَّر / مؤنَّث
Blue أزرق / زرقاء
Red أحمر / حمراء
Green أخضر/ خضراء
Yellow أصفر/ صفراء
Black أسود / سوداء
White أبيض / بيضاء

The Origin of Some Color Words

Some color names have interesting word roots:

Purple or violet (from banafsij, meaning 'the violet flower') بنفسجيّ Orange (from burtuqaal, meaning 'the orange fruit') برتقاليّGray (from rumaad, meaning 'ashes') رماديّ Gold (from dhahab, meaning 'gold') ذهبيّ Silver (from fiddah, meaning 'silver') فضّيّBrown (from bunn, meaning 'coffee beans') بنّيّWardii/iyyah or zahrii/iyyah—Pink (from warda or zahra, meaning 'rose'
or 'flower') ورديّ

Himnos de Palestina

Himno Nacional de Palestina

fida'i

Traducción al Inglés

My country, my country
My country, my land, land of my ancestors
My redemption, my redemption
My redemption, my people, people of eternity

With my determination, my fire and the volcano of my vendetta
With the longing in my blood for my land and my home
I have climbed the mountains and fought the wars
I have conquered the impossible, and crossed the frontiers

With the resolve of the winds and the fire of the weapons
And the determination of my nation in the land of struggle
Palestine is my home, Palestine is my fire,
Palestine is my vendetta and the land of withstanding

By the oath under the shade of the flag
By my land and nation, and the fire of pain
I will live as a redemption, I will remain a redeemer,
I will spend my redemption - until my country returns
My redemption

Palestinian National Anthem: My Homeland

English Translation:
My homeland, My homeland
Glory and beauty, Sublimity and splendor
Are in your hills, Are in your hills
Life and deliverance, Pleasure and hope
Are in your air, Are in your Air
Will I see you? Will I see you?
Safe and comforted, Sound and honored
Will I see you in your eminence?
Reaching to the stars, Reaching to the stars
My homeland, My homeland
My homeland, My homeland
The youth will not tire, 'till your independence
Or they die, Or they die
We will drink from death
And will not be to our enemies
Like slaves, Like slaves
We refuse, We reduse
An eternal humiliation
Nor a miserable life
We refuse
But we will bring back
Our freedom, Our freedom
My homeland, My homeland
The sword and the pen
Not the talk nor the quarrel
Are our symbols, Are our symbols
Our glory and our covenant
And a duty to be true
Moves us, moves us
Our glory, Our glory
Is an honorable cause
And a waving banner
O, behold you
In your eminence
Victorious over your enemies
Victorious over your enemies
My homeland, My homeland

My Homeland
